About Me

CARMEL JOSEPH

The moment I picked up a paintbrush and started creating, I knew that art was my true passion. It became my sanctuary, a place where I could pour my emotions and thoughts onto a canvas and transform them into something tangible and meaningful.
Through the act of creating, I find a sense of release and renewed sense of purpose. It is a form of therapy that allows me to navigate the complexities of life and find healing in the process.

Being born in Haiti and raised in New Rochelle, New York, I was exposed to a rich tapestry of cultures, colors and traditions. These Early influences shaped my artistic perspective and instilled a deep appreciation for diversity and the human experience.
In 2010, I embarked on a journey of self-discovery and decided to move to Pittsburgh, PA. The unfamiliarity of the city posed challenges, but it also opened up new horizons and provided me with fresh inspiration.

During my time in Pittsburgh, I pursued a degree in art, honing my skills in expanding my Knowledge of various artistic techniques. I developed a deep fascination with nature and human anatomy, finding beauty and complexity in the organic forms that surrounds us. These themes often find their way into my artwork, as I strive to capture the essence of life and its interconnectedness.

My artistic style is diverse and ever-evolving. I find joy in experimenting with different mediums, from oil paints, to mix media and incorporating various textures and layers into my work.

I believe that art should evoke emotions and tell stories, inviting viewers to contemplate and connect with the pieces on a personal level.
As an artist, I am constantly seeking inspiration and pushing the boundaries of my creativity. I am driven by desire to express my innermost thoughts and emotions through my artwork, and to spark conversations and reflections in others.

My work has been exhibited in galleries, art shows, and I am grateful for the opportunities to share my passion with others. I am an artist who embraces the beauty of diversity, celebrates the intricacies of nature, and explores the depths of the human experience through my art.
